THE HOPE PROJECT at Stella Adler Studios

Through the same program I’ve worked with this spring at Stella Adler, former addicts and incarcerated people join forces with actors and other creatives to create a piece of theater about hope. I’ll be performing in it, and you may see some of my writing as well!

THE OTHER SIDE OF DARKNESS at The NY Theater Festival

I’m excited to return to the New York Theater Festival, where I was nominated for best actor in 2022. The show is called The Other Side of Darkness, a bold new Afro-Futurist play which explores themes of family and loneliness.

PROJECT AT STELLA ADLER

I’m acting in The Perseverance Project at Stella Adler Studios. Theatre creators work with addicts in recovery, or the formerly incarcerated to make a live performance. Some of our material is written by Rikers inmates. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget why I love acting, but working on this has reminded me what it’s all about. Dates and times below:

SHAKESPEARE READING GROUP

The play-reading group I was in has shifted to Shakespeare, and we’re looking for actors. Last week we did Richard III and next week we’ll be doing Timon of Athens. Reply for more information!

Hi everyone and welcome (whether you’re new or returning). I hate bothering you on a Sunday, so until we’ve finished that, let’s move on and start putting it together.

1. I’M IN A PLAY!

It’s a brand new play, based on the novel We by Russian author Yevgeny Zamyatin. He was a Bolshevik but then he changed his mind when the Communists began banning books. It’s a dystopian satire never before done in the States. Performances are October 11-20, at the Mark O’Donnell Theatre (near Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets and Jay St – MetroTech) tickets are on sale. Hope you can make it!

2. MINECRAFT BLACK MARKET

A standard copy from Microsoft today will cost you $30—$40, but did you know some people illegally pay more than $100 or even $1000 dollars for a Minecraft account? I did a whole investigation on my YouTube math channel. Not only do I explore the ins and outs of this strange black market, there’s also mathematics I explain which connect to my analysis. 1. Master’s in Math

I’m going to start pursuing a master’s degree in mathematics. This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, but I’m applying sooner than expected. This doesn’t mean that I’m swearing off acting, just that I won’t be trying for things like a national tour. I want to use my acting training to improve communication between researchers and in other technical areas.

Welcome and hi again to everyone! I have three major performances to share:

• 1. Jewish songs from my upbringing (click to listen)

American anti-semitism has been rising over the past few years, and Israel is coming closer and closer to tyranny. I’ve had to reckon with my Judaism and what it means to me, and I’ve been educating myself more on Jewish life and history. I’ve made recordings of some of the songs I’ve grown up with during my Hebrew school days as an outlet.

I also used to watch a lot of Thomas the Tank Engine when I was younger, and the videotapes were narrated by Ringo Starr. I also watch The Incredibles hundreds of times when I was younger and knew the whole movie by heart at one point. I decided to use my voiceover skills to combine the two in this video:

Hey again everyone! Not much is new in these last few months, I just have two videos to share.

The first is from a stand-up class. I’ve got some material now and I’m going to take it to open mics. I’ll let you know if I ever have a show coming up.

The second is an educational video about Calculus that I made. The last time I made a math video like this it got over 40,000 views, so I took that as a sign to make another. Enjoy!

Hello again! Yes, I know it’s been less than three months, but it’s been a year since I graduated from college and made a website, which is a huge milestone!

But the REAL reason I’m writing to all of you is that a LOT has happened in the last month that I’m really excited to share…

There were long stretches of time this past year where no work came in, and at times I doubted whether I’d ever get to act again. Thankfully, the answer is yes–I landed my first theatrical role! I’ll be in a play called Roomies that follows the story of two ghosts haunting an apartment, and it’ll be at the New York Theater Festival during the following times:

• Monday, Jun 20 @9:00pm
• Wednesday, Jun 22 @9:00pm
• Saturday, Jun 25th @6:45pm

I’ll annoy everyone with more updates on tickets as we get closer to performance dates.

The second exciting piece of news is my foray into mathematics. Before this year, math had been a hobby, but it’s turned into something more. I started to combine my passion for acting with math on my TikTok, using comedy to make it interesting for a general audience. I tried out a funny video where I did “math with pronouns”, and the algorithm smiled upon it–as of right now it’s been viewed over 275,000 times.

Seeing a video get over 5 figures of views–especially one about math–felt like a sign. I realized that education can be a creative challenge, and the problem of making something like math interesting was cut-out work for an artist like me. I’ve decided to start a new YouTube channel: “Math Without Mystery where I explain math without using any math at all. I’ve already posted a video so far, give it a view–and since I’m a YouTuber now–don’t forget to like and subscribe!

I’ve also added some things to the website, including a new data science blog that I’ll post to now and then. In the first post, I imagine a hypothetical scenario involving the subways of the MTA, and do some web-scraping with python and graphs in excel. Many math and science professionals keep a blog where they post educational content or pose open problems for peers to work on, but I’m thinking of this as something a little more relaxed and just for fun.

I’m still in Queens if anyone wants to hang out! The next update will come sometime in mid-June about that performance, but happy trails until then!

Hello again, everyone! Crazy to think it’s been three months. I’ve had all kinds of free time to go into my own projects. I sang Edelweiss from “The Sound of Music” backwards and put it on YouTube! Watch it and make me go viral, you’ll waste like a minute of your life at most!

Some days seem to just zoom by, while others are packed with memories. One of my most memory-packed days was in February when I did background for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I won’t give too much away, but shooting took place in the gorgeous TWA terminal at JFK airport.

I was fortunate enough to rub shoulders with Rachel Brosnahan (it was more like an accidental bump, but you take what you can get) and meet a ton of awesome people.

I’ve been a creator for an app in development for a while, but it’s finally on the app store! It’s called Purified, it’s a news app that changes the way people get information.

You can follow different accounts for news topics you’re interested in. I’m on there myself, I focus on a lot of local news and wholesome stuff. My username is “goodNewsAaron”. Download it from the app store and give me a follow!
